Sport Changes Life creates an opportunity for young people to build relationships as we aim to inspire and raise the aspirations of young people on both sides of the Atlantic through sport.
With our Victory Scholar Program, founded with our partner at the Ulster University, we enable international student-athletes to continue their education at the post-graduate level and continue to play the sport they love in our prestigious partner universities in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
We provide Victory Scholars with mentoring and guidance as they transform from athletes to coaches, from undergraduate to graduate-level academics and turn them into leaders that will help shape tomorrows world.
Each Victory Scholar will be enrolled in prestigious graduate schools across Northern Ireland and Ireland. They will have the chance to play their sport at the university and club level. The scholar will work with young people in the local communities they will be placed in as Sport Changes Life aims to use your skill set to inspire and build relationships through sport. Additionally, Scholars will become a part of the Sport Changes Life family building on the ‘Victory Alumni’ legacy that has been established throughout these communities. As a Victory Scholar you will have the oppurtunity to travel and explore the island of Ireland and beyond as you embark on your experience as a Victory Scholar.
The Sport Changes Life schools engagement program focuses on young people finding it difficult to engage with education. We deliver an eight-week, timetabled series of sport plus a good relations module that helps motivate through an alternative form of education and mentoring.
We provide information packs to the schools detailing the range of discussion topics covered along with the sports curriculum.
Each engagement project is built on five key elements: inspire, succeed, connect, celebrate, envision.
With our groundbreaking programs of EHOOPS, designed with our partner at Ulster University, we bring hope to the local communities’ and help raise the aspirations of young people. These young people know more about conflict than friendship and have few or no role models in their lives to help them find inspiration in their world. Through our EHOOPS program, currently funded by Belfast City Council, we use a healthy mix of sport with alternative education, to give our young people the opportunity of a brighter shared future.
Our professional team of sports mentors and Victory Scholars deliver one of the most empowering, innovative and inspirational youth engagement programmes that help motivate our young people to a brighter future.
Our scholars continue their education at 10 prestigious universities across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Our founding university partner, Ulster University, has an international reputation for excellence, innovation and regional engagement. It has campuses throughout Northern Ireland in Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown, and Magee, as well as two branch campuses in England, in London and Birmingham.
