Sport Changes Life (SCL) and the Professional Footballer’s Association Northern Ireland (PFA NI) proudly announce a new partnership aimed at elevating the educational, personal, and professional development of football players across Northern Ireland. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the commitment to player welfare and community empowerment within the Northern Irish football landscape.
As the players’ union for professional, semi-professional, and amateur footballers in Northern Ireland, PFA NI has been steadfast in its dedication to representing the interests and well-being of its members. Through this strategic alliance with Sport Changes Life, a leading charity organisation dedicated to utilising sport as a catalyst for change, both entities are poised to amplify their impact on the lives of players and communities alike.
Central to this partnership is the focus on enhancing the educational welfare of players, fostering their personal and professional growth within the realm of sports, and strengthening their footprint in the community. SCL will serve as PFA NI’s charity partner, providing invaluable support and resources to facilitate the holistic development of players both on and off the field.
Michael McCabe, Business Development Officer of Sport Changes Life, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating: “At Sport Changes Life, we believe in the transformative power of sport to effect positive change in individuals and communities. We are thrilled to partner with PFA NI to further our shared mission of empowering football players in Northern Ireland, both personally and professionally. Together, we will work to unlock the full potential of every player and foster a culture of excellence and opportunity.”
Michael Carvill, representing PFA NI, emphasised the significance of the partnership in advancing the welfare and development of football players across the region. ” As the voice of football players in Northern Ireland, PFA NI is committed to ensuring our members receive the support and resources they need to thrive both on and off the pitch,” said Carvill. “By teaming up with Sport Changes Life, we are reaffirming our dedication to player welfare and community development, laying the groundwork for a brighter and more prosperous future for all involved.”
In addition to supporting player welfare initiatives, the partnership will also entail collaboration on an annual fundraiser aimed at benefitting a PFA NI welfare fund and SCL programmes in local communities. Through this collective effort, both organisations aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of football players and communities throughout Northern Ireland.
