St James Place Charitable Foundation supporting Sport Changes Life with a 3 year partnership

January 8th, 2019 | NEWS

We are delighted to announce that St James Place Charitable Foundation will be supporting Sport Changes Life in the next three years.  This donation will help support with the delivery of our new Mentoring Program – Future 4, alongside a Programme Manager for our sport-led personal development programme, eHoops. Future 4 is a programme piloting in Early 2019, that will focus on four key areas: Health, Opportunity, Learning and You, in order to help young people in their personal growth.

St. James’s Place Foundation is the grant-making charitable arm of the St. James’s Place Wealth Management Group. One of their theme’s is mental health and as part of their focus on young people, they have also launched the national Sport for Good programme in 2012, a programme that harnesses the power of sport to reach into the lives of young people in areas of high depravation or strategic need, which is perfectly aligned with Sport Changes Life commitment and mission to inspire and raise the aspirations of young people through sport.

This partnership has a significant importance to Sport Changes Life CEO Gareth Maguire, who stated, “The support of St. James’s Place Foundation will allow us to continue and further develop on the work we already do with young people in the community. To mark this partnership, we have launched our Future 4 mentoring programme. The aim of the programme is to empower young people through one to one mentoring session’s that will inevitably raise their aspirations. The mentor will guide that young person in their chosen area of support and be that friend that they can trust and confide in.. We want to help as many young people as possible by developing personal growth, building confidence and equipping that young person with the skills and support needed to lead better lives.  We have seen many times over the duration of our programmes that there are young people out there who need that one to one support and this Future 4 programme will allow that to happen by creating positive dialogue between the mentor and the young person”.

Mark Longbottom, Head of the St. James’s Place Foundation, added “how pleased we are that the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation and Sport Changes Life are able to partner each other in this way and looks forward to hearing about the progress of the programme in Belfast.”

We are excited to be partnering with St James’s Place Foundation to continue helping local young people achieve their full potential and be able to look positively towards their future.

The launch event was held at Sport Changes Life office, at Mersey Street, with the presence of Keith Willet and Sheldon Coulter from St. James’s Wealth Management
