My name is Simone Hobdy and I am from St. Albans, New York. I am beyond excited and honored to be a victory scholar with Sports Changes Life, and I’m ready to begin this amazing new journey. I recently graduated from Adelphi University with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and sociology, and was a part of the women’s basketball team as well. Fun fact I am both a DI and DII athlete. Before ending my career at Adelphi, I played 2 years at Niagara University with former victory scholars Meghan McGuinness and Tiffany Corselli. In my senior year I was named team captain and finished my career as my team’s leading scorer and assister. I was humbled to have been awarded NE-10 All-Conference, Academic All-Conference, All-Met, and finally team MVP.
I will be continuing my studies at Trinity College Dublin, pursuing a masters degree in general management. I will also be playing with the women’s basketball program. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue playing the game I love while helping others in the community as well. I have always loved to mentor and teach the game to kids so this is something I am very comfortable with. I look forward to embracing everything that comes with being a victory scholar and making the best of this incredible opportunity!
