Hello, my name is Carson Long. I’m from Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, also known as “Mt. Pilot” from the Andy Griffith Show. I graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC in May of 2019 where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and a minor in Business.
During my career at Guilford I played in 115 games and started in 102, the second most in school history, while scoring 1,436 points. I am one of four Guilford College graduates to ever be named All-Conference for three consecutive seasons. I helped lead my team to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships and NCAA tournament appearances in 2017 and 2019. I was honored to receive D3hoops.com third team All-South, second team All-South (National Association of Basketball Coaches), and Guilford College Best Male Athlete Award in 2017. The highlight of my college career was a trip to the DIII NCAA Elite 8 this spring where we lost a close battle (3 points) to the eventual National Champions.
While in college I participated in Guilford’s Campus Ministry, served on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee and was a campus resident hall advisor during my junior and senior years.
This fall I will be attending the Institute of Technology Sligo while earning my master’s degree in Marketing. I am looking forward to getting involved with the local Sligo community, while also learning the Irish way of life. I am especially excited about sharing my love of basketball while mentoring youth and playing with the Sligo All-Stars.
