Hey everyone! My name is Jamie Sherburne and I am overjoyed to join the Sport Changes Life family! I am from Hudson New Hampshire, a small town 45 minutes north of Boston. I attended Niagara University in New York to study and play division one basketball. In the four years playing for the women’s basketball team, I was selected to the All MAAC Academic Team each year and was a team captain during my junior and senior seasons. In December 2017, I graduated Cum Laude receiving a degree in Secondary English Education. I spent the second semester of my senior year, studying in the Literacy Graduate program at Niagara University and teaching seventh and eighth graders Religion and English Language Arts full-time at a private school.
I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to become a mentor, earn a master’s degree, and continue playing the sport I love. I have the privilege to attend Maynooth University where I will be playing and studying to earn a master’s degree in English. I am honored in being selected as a Victory Scholar where I can make a difference and change lives through this program. As a teacher, I understand the impact we have on our youth and I am excited to become a role model and mentor for young people in Ireland. I have been truly blessed with coaches, mentors, and professors throughout my life and would love to become the same positive influence as those who inspired me.
