Hey everyone! My name is Johnny McCarthy, and I am extremely honored to be a Victory Scholar and part of the Sport Changes Life family. I am from Medfield, Massachusetts, a suburb outside of Boston, and graduated from Amherst College last spring with a BA in Economics. At Amherst, I was a four-year starter and earned All-Conference (NESCAC) honors the last two seasons while also being named NABC All-Northeast 1st team in 2017. I finished my career with an 81-31 career record, including a run to the NCAA DIII Final Four in 2016.
In Ireland, I will be pursuing a Masters in Business degree at IT Carlow. In addition to extending my education, I look forward to continuing my basketball career, and most importantly, fully immersing myself in the school and town community. I hope to further the impact of past Victory Scholars by providing valuable mentorship and instilling self-confidence in the young people of the Carlow community through the avenue of sport. I am very excited to be a part of this prestigious program and look forward to getting started!
