Hello everyone! My name is Andrew Curiel, and I am both honored and thrilled for the opportunity to be a Victory Scholar and represent the Sport Changes Life family. I am originally from the Bronx, New York, and I recently graduated from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York. This past May, I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management. In addition, I played varsity basketball for four years with a team that successfully concluded with the most wins in school history. While on the team, I recieved team awards such as Most Improved Player (2016), Most Valuable Player (2017), and the All-Sportsmanship Team for the conference (2018). Along with being a student-athlete, I ran, and still currently run my own non-profit organization called Be You Stay True, a youth-based program that promotes character building through basketball.
While in Ireland, I will be studying at Limerick Institute of Technology in the Master of Business in Marketing & Management Strategy program. I am extremely excited to continue pursuing my mission in the Limerick community, not only as an active role model to children, but also while also playing for their men’s basketball team. Sports have been such a crucial part of my life and significantly contributed to the person I am today. Knowing this, I hope to bring some of the most empowering aspects of basketball to the lives of the children I will be working with. In my journey, I hope to both inspire and have a positive impact on everyone I come into contact with. As the opportunity of a lifetime, I am really excited for the chance to continue my education and basketball career in Limerick through the Victory Scholar program.
