Biography

Hi everyone! My name is Kaitlyn Slagus and I am so excited to join the Sport Changes Life family! I am from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, a small town about 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh. I graduated from Bucknell University last spring with a BA in Economics and Psychology while playing division one basketball. In my four years of playing at Bucknell, I helped my team win three regular season championships and two tournament championships leading to two NCAA Tournament appearances. My class finished with a record of 102-30, which now stands as the winningest class in Patriot League history. I was the 2016 Rookie of the Year, three-time All-Patriot League Selection, Patriot League Tournament MVP, as well as a captain my senior year. I finished my career as Bucknell’s all-time leading rebounder, a 1,000-point scorer, and in the top-ten in blocks, field goals made, and three pointers made.

Being a part of the Sport Changes Life family is one of the many opportunities that basketball has given me. Through this program, not only will I be pursuing my Masters in Business degree and continuing my basketball career at IT Carlow, but I also look forward to engaging with and being immersed within the local community. I have had several life changing opportunities through the sport of basketball and I am looking forward to everything that is to come this year!
