Greetings, friends! My name is Nyasha Sarju and I am jazzed to join the Sport Changes Life family as a Victory Scholar. I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and four years ago I travelled across the United States to study psychology and play basketball at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. In my senior season, I led my team in scoring and was named to the NCAA Division-1 Academic All-District Team and was awarded Ivy-League Second Team All-Ivy honors. During my college years I spent summers interning with the Seattle Storm as well as helping direct a summer school program for middle school students.
I will be studying Sport and Exercise Psychology at the Ulster University, and playing for the women’s basketball team. Furthermore, I will be working with Sport Changes Life, using sport to make an impact on young people in the community. I am thankful for this opportunity and excitedly awaiting its commencement.
