Biography

Hey everyone! My name is Emma O’Connor and I am very honored to be a part of the Sport Changes Life program. I am from Lynbrook, New York and I graduated from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.  While on the women’s basketball team at Marist, we won the MAAC Championship all four years. During my senior season I was a captain and was named First Team all MAAC and First Team All Metropolitan.

This past year I was playing for a basketball team in Belfast. When I heard about the SCL program I was instantly interested. Basketball has always been such a big part of my life and has opened so many doors for me. I know how much of an impact sport and good role models can influence someone.

This year I will be studying to earn my degree in Business Management at the National University of Ireland Maynooth while also playing on the basketball team. I am so excited for the adventure I am about to begin, continuing my education, helping the youth of Ireland, meeting new people, and playing the sport I love!
