Hello! My name is Nate and I am excited to join Sport Changes Life as a part of the newest class of Victory Scholars. I am from McLean, Virginia and attended Langley High School. I studied undergraduate at Swarthmore College, where I earned master’s degrees in both Economics and Psychology. I was blessed to be part of the Swarthmore Men’s Basketball program. There, I met important mentors, friends, and brothers who will certainly continue to have a powerful impact on my life. Together our program won two conference titles and earned an 11-3 record across four NCAA tournament berths, including separate appearances in the Sweet 16, Elite 8, and the National Championship game. As a senior I earned First Team All-Conference, Conference DPOY and All-America honors, as well as joining the program’s 1000-point club.
I was first drawn to the Victory Scholar Program by the recommendations of two friends within Swarthmore Basketball who had also been Victory Scholars. I quickly learned that Sport Changes Life is an awesome opportunity for many reasons, but more than anything I was excited to bring a positive impact to the community and children of Ireland. Living, learning, and playing on the island will certainly be memorable, but I have a feeling the chances to share a smile, give back, and inspire will be among the highlights of my trip.
