Hello everyone! My name is Shannon Ryan I am from Plattsburgh, New York and I am thrilled to join the Sport Changes Life family as a Victory Scholar! I began my college career at Boston College before transferring to Saint Anselm after my freshman year. I studied Psychology with a Sport Studies Minor.
While at Saint Anselm I was named WBCA All-American, D2CCA First Team All-American, and Women’s Division II Bulletin First Team All-American. I also received East Region player of the year,NE10 Conference Player of the Year, and finished my career as the programs All Time Leading scorer with 1,767 points in three years and eclipsed 1,000 career rebounds. I was the NCAA Division II statistical champion in double-doubles. I was named Student Athlete of the Year both my Junior and Senior year and was captain my Senior year. I am most proud of the fact that my team was able to advance to an NCAA Elite 8 appearance my Junior year and earn a tournament appearance my Senior year before COVID cut us short.
I am looking forward to being a Victory Scholar. I will be attending Ulster University and pursuing a masters degree in Sport Management. I am eager to immerse myself in the rich culture of Ireland. I have had many role models throughout the years, and I am looking forward to being a role model to others in Ireland. I am most excited to work with the youth and local community of Ireland while trying to make a positive impact in their lives. Basketball has provided me with such incredible opportunities throughout my life and I am looking forward to sharing my experience with others. I firmly believe in the power of sports building character, confidence, bringing people together, and changing lives. I cannot wait to begin this incredible opportunity as a Victory Scholar! I am very thankful to be a part of the Sport Changes Life community!
